Fondation Thalie recently opened Géologie des Âmes, a group exhibition featuring works by Sama Alshaibi alongside others from the foundation’s collection.
Centered on the medium of photography, the exhibition explores themes related to the complexity and multi-dimensional nature of the human soul. Like geological phenomena, the soul is layered, composed of emotional and narrative strata that reveal its depth.
Colonial and post-colonial histories have added further layers, wounds that shape individual and collective identities. Géologie des Âmes sheds light on the profound scars left by these histories on affected communities and their people.
