Rawaa Talass once again turns to writing to commemorate 15 years since the start of the Syrian conflict. Through her article, Talass highlights artists who have used their medium as a visual weapon, a form of archive for all that has unfolded over the years of conflict, and one that will continue to tell the story for generations to come.

Among these artists is Abdalla Al Omari, who, through his paintings, conveys themes of displacement and forced exile, experiences he himself endured as a Syrian forced to leave his home behind in search of a safer, more hopeful future.
