Works by 333 artists including Kay WalkingStick, Lauren Halsey, and Samia Halaby will be included in the main exhibition of the upcoming 60th Venice Biennale, a substantial jump from the 213 artists included in the 2022 edition. The exhibition will be on public view from April 20 through November 24. A complete list of participants, released today, is included at the end of this article.

The Central Pavilion, the focal point of the expansive Venice Biennale, will focus on “the queer artist,” “the outsider artist,” “the folk artist,” and “the Indigenous artist,” according to a press release. Brazil’s Indigenous Movimento dos Artistas Huni Kuin (MAHKU) collective will paint a mural on the hall’s facade, and New Zealand’s four-woman Māori Mataaho collective will stage an installation in the building’s first room. A large section of the pavilion will be dedicated to LGBTQ+ artists and a special display will center queer abstraction. Elsewhere on the biennale’s sprawling grounds, four countries will present national pavilions for the first time: Benin, Ethiopia, Tanzania, Timor Leste, Nicaragua, Panama, and Senegal.
