Artist Mohannad Orabi and Ayyam Gallery’s Artistic Director Maymanah Farhat were listed among Foreign Policy’s prestigious 100 Leading Global Thinkers in November.Every year Foreign Policy magazine brings together celebrated global thinkers from around the world to honour their standout contributions and their ability to transform important ideas into actions that change and shape the world.
Orabi and Farhat were selected based on their participation in Syria’s Apex Generation, a 2014 summer exhibition organized by Farhat that also featured gallery artists Kais Salman, Nihad Al Turk, Abdul Karim Majdal Al-Beik, and Othman Moussa, and travelled to Ayyam Gallery’s Dubai, Beirut, and London spaces. The exhibition was recognised by the magazine for its ability to present a side of Syria’s recent history that lies beyond news media talking points.
