Ayyam Gallery's second Beirut Sale proved to be an outstanding success with over $500,000 USD in sales. Held on July 1, 2010 at Ayyam Gallery Beirut, the auction presented nearly 50 lots by some of the Middle East's biggest names, including Syrian painter Safwan Dahoul, whose impacting "Dream 26" (2010) canvas surpassed initial estimates and drew the highest bid of $54,000.
With only two works bought in, the sale demonstrated the exciting momentum that the market for Arab, Iranian and Turkish art has maintained and comes after a number of high profile auctions, including the record breaking spring sale of Christie's Dubai and Ayyam Gallery's third installment of its Young Collectors Auction. A noticeable trend among these events, more and more regional art aficionados have been eagerly acquiring museum quality works, seeking to invest in one of the world's most exciting and promising art markets. Attracting a wide range of buyers, this latest edition of the Beirut Sale took place as the local art scene continues to grow at a rapid speed.
