Houssam Ballan
Biography
Intrigued by the triviality of street life, Hosam Ballan commits fleeting moments to canvas. His keenly observed snapshots of children at play or alone possess a detailed precision that is testament to his technical acumen. Oscillating between abstraction and realism, Ballan's journey as an artist has only just begun but is already showing promise.
Born in the southern Syrian city of Suweida, the 2005 graduate of the University of Damascus Faculty of Fine Arts has participated in numerous collective exhibitions in Syria and several workshops held by the Spanish Cultural Centre, the French Cultural Centre and Khan Asaad Basha in Damascus.
